By Camille Seven | Founder of Department
As a lifelong curator, I’ve channeled my passion for finishing touches into Department, a carefully curated selection of luxury goods that elevate everyday life and special moments alike. This holiday season, I’ve partnered with YOUR Williamson magazine to craft a holiday gift guide full of personal and sentimental gift ideas for the discerning women on your shopping list. From clean, niche fragrances to fine jewelry and table top items, this list is sure to inspire joy and create lasting memories. And, if anything in this guide ends up on your own wish list, circle the picture and leave the magazine open to this page to “drop the hint” in a nostalgic way. We are excited to see you in person at Department and help you select the perfect gift. Happy Holidays!
Jaymes Paper, Assorted Matchboxes
One of my favorite effortless hosting tricks is to throw a handful of luxe matchbooks in a catchall by the entry or coat closet for guests to take on their way in or out. It reminds me of living in NY and Paris in my 20s and collecting matchbooks at all my favorite cafes. I couldn’t be happier to move back to Tennessee to raise our family of 3, and this simple touch feels like I’m back trying a cool new restaurant after work but without leaving my home. And it’s a great and handy gift for our guests to remember the evening and our friendship. They are also extra great to have on hand as the finishing touch when gifting someone a candle. It’s an easy add, but your friend will be impressed and grateful for the extra thought.
Liis, Studied
Liis is a clean niche fragrance house with quite a beautiful range. This is one that often gets me compliments when I’m wearing it out, and I personally feel amazing wearing it. It’s a scent that works for day or night, and I feel just as amazing wearing it to work where I will be up close to other people, a concert with friends downtown, holding my young children, or on a date night with my husband. I don’t often encounter a scent so versatile and breathtaking. It has a pear note that makes it unique in a way I hope you’ll come into the shop to experience it in real life. Overall, it’s light enough for spring and summer but feels like a hug with someone warm and sophisticated that you can wear through the fall and winter.
Sophie Lou Jacobson, Squiggle Pitcher
It’s not your grandmother’s silver pitcher, but that’s not a bad thing. Both are beautiful options but you probably already have one of those in the family, and this one will be just as timeless and uniquely yours. And if you don’t have one already, consider this your sign! I can almost guarantee you’ll smile every time you pour yourself a glass of water, whether you're alone or with the best of company. Sophie Lou Jacobson blends classic tradition and a modern fresh perspective like no other tabletop designer I’ve encountered.
HOWEL, Belle Diamond Earrings
If you’re looking for the gift to splurge on, this is it. These earrings are 18kt yellow gold and 2.4ct total diamonds and handmade in LA for the ultimate one of a kind gift that will leave anyone speechless. They will be destined to become a family heirloom and worn more than you’d expect. Whoever said jewelry and flowers are a lazy gift, never got earrings like this. If these earrings are now on your wish list, circle their picture and leave the magazine open to this page to drop the hint in a nostalgic way. And just wait until you see these showstoppers in person!
Jade Ruzzo, Vic Ring, Small, Green Tourmaline
It’s middle Tennessee, so chances are good that you are a musician, know a musician, or love and appreciate music on a level that is just innate to our life here. Jade Ruzzo is an incredible young female fine jewelry designer with collections all inspired by her late musician father and/or Tennessee. Carrying her chic, musically-inspired collection just feels right for our shop and community. The Vic Ring is made from 18k gold and named after her father with its cabochon cut and bezel set gemstones design inspired by percussion instruments to honor him. My favorite is the vic ring with green tourmaline, it feels versatile and understated yet bold. But they can be made in just about any stone that is meaningful or appealing to you. And I think they look extra great stacked as you build your collection, because you will find yourself looking to collect more of her line once you start!
Nette, Safari Scented Candle
Nette candles are my absolute favorite clean candles, and I've tested and bought many! If you’re going to gift a candle, I think a clean fragrance house is a great bet to avoid any headaches for the receiver. The throw and projection on these candles is exceptional. The best part? The handmade ceramic vessels are not just reusable but food safe as well as dishwasher and microwave safe. All their scents are enchanting, but I’ve sold out of Safari already once for a reason. It’s inviting, interesting, a bit mysterious, and very, very cool.
Brooke Gregson, Astrology Necklace
Just like an initial, these handmade 14k gold astrology star sign necklaces feel personal and often sentimental. Each piece is hand hammered with a unique texture that reminds the LA-based designer of the moon, and the constellations are set with cut diamonds. The best part of gifting these, the chain has multiple length options so they can wear with anything in the recipient’s collection.
Sophie Lou Jacobson, Angel Flute
If you want to upgrade your holiday gift of a bottle of wine, pair it with this set of flute’s inspired by an angel trumpet flower. But I’ve also had someone who grew up on 30A tell me they had to buy them for a family member because they reminded her of seashells. I went to college on the beach and I can’t say I disagree. They are chic and unique, my favorite kind of gift. But they also have a design that speaks to everyone in their own way. No matter what memory they evoke, they are destined to be a new favorite and will easily elevate any tablescape, girls’ night in, or family dinner.
Marlo Laz, Southwestern Initial Charms
A personalized gift always feels like you went the extra mile, and these initial 14k yellow gold charms feel extra special and fresh. I went on a girls trip to Santa Fe in 2022 and the trip and city left such a mark on me. I love the southwestern design of these charms, it reminds me of that trip and also suits my life in Tennessee and personal style perfectly.
Heretic Parfum, Discovery Set
I understand that a perfume is a bold gift buy, but we carry discovery kits by all of our fragrance houses and I think it’s the ultimate gift. Especially if you want to pair it with a gift certificate to contribute to the full bottle of their choosing when they know which one is “the one” for them. Heretic is another clean line we carry, so it makes the perfect gift for my nieces in high school but also a really chic stocking stuffer for my sister and SIL (who both get headaches from traditional perfumes).
