Williamson County Student Earns Spot For Carnegie Hall Honors Performance

Williamson County student, Ethan Hill, has earned a spot for the High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall in New York City on February 10, a special honor limited to the highest-rated young performers from across the world.

Hill, a junior at Franklin High School, auditioned for the Honors Performance Series and was recently accepted after a review by the Honors Selection Board which indicated the acceptance to the elite group is a direct result of the talent, dedication, and achievements demonstrated in their application and audition recording.Studying music since the sixth grade, Hill is a member of Tennessee Youth Symphony under the direction of Anna Maria Miller and a member of the Franklin High School Orchestra under the direction of Susan Abell.  He has auditioned and been selected since the seventh grade to perform at the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra annual performance and Williamson County Honors Orchestra. In addition, Hill was asked to perform for a special presentation by the Country Music Awards Foundation and Mr. Holland Opus Foundation where Instruments were donated to Franklin High School. As a multi-instrumentalist, Hill enjoys writing and recording music in his home studio.

 

He will join outstanding high school performers from all 50 United States, including Guam and the Virgin Islands, South Korea, New Zealand, and Taiwan for a special performance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall, a venue that marks the pinnacle of musical achievement. The finalists will come together in New York City where they will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned conductors, work with other performers, and get a taste of New York City. Marion Gomez, Music Director for the Honors Performance Series , said the Honors Performance will take place February 10 and is open to the public. Tickets can be purchased to the performance through the Carnegie Hall box office.

 

“Being selected to the Honors Performance Series is something each Finalist should be extremely proud of accomplishing,” said Gomez. “We processed nearly 10,000 nominations this year and have selected the most talented student performers from around the world. Working with these conductors and performing at these renowned music halls is a once-in-a-lifetime experience these musicians will never forget.”

 

The Honors Performance Series was created to showcase accomplished individual student performers on an international level by allowing them to study under master conductors and perform in world renowned venues.
